The Opportunity

The Controls/Electrical Design Engineering Supervisor position is within the Stearns Roger Services organization in the Installed Base Outage Services Business Unit, which is responsible for designing and upgrading nuclear reactor refueling equipment to commercial nuclear reactors. This opportunity is located in Lynchburg, Virginia.

What You’ll Do at Framatome

  • Provide daily front-line supervision and technical support for a team of electrical and controls engineers and support staff
  • Plan and schedule work, supervise workflow, and adherence to budgets
  • Supervise the execution of engineering processes, review progress and update management, as needed
  • Provide input to, or conduct, staff appraisals
  • Lead a team of electrical/control engineers in the design of industrial PLC control systems and/or electrical equipment for Nuclear Power Plant Refueling Equipment. Typical assignments include:
  • Define or review requirements for equipment and functionality
  • Design or review designs of controls or electrical power supply systems to meet requirements
  • Assist with creating or review control system and electrical design drawings
  • Facilitate procurement of parts and components
  • Oversee installation and testing of components on the equipment
  • Typical equipment includes PLC control systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Motors, Hoists, Human Machine Interfaces with touchscreens, power supply systems, transformers, industrial PCs, etc.
  • Help develop and refine standard design process


Requirements

What You’ve Accomplished

You have completed a BS degree in Electrical, Controls, or Computer Engineering. You may have also obtained an advanced degree in similar fields. You have worked in a Electrical or Controls Engineering role for at least 5 years and are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology.

Your Skills and Knowledge

  • You must have skills in motivating and mentoring technical personnel
  • You must have demonstrated leadership ability to manage multiple tasks and projects through subordinates
  • You must have skills in automated control system or electrical system design
  • You have ability to work on a multi-discipline engineering team
  • You have experience leading small to mid-size design projects or teams
  • You have situational sensitivity
  • You have the ability to communicate clearly and precisely in oral, written, and presentation formats
  • You are experienced in reading and understanding electrical drawings
  • You are adept at working directly with end customer, as necessary
  • You have good knowledge of electrical engineering standards, techniques, and criteria
  • You have PLC control system troubleshooting skills
  • You may have commercial nuclear power experience
  • You may have PLC design experience; both system design and PLC/HMI programming
  • You may have programming experience; VB, C++/C#
  • You understand motion controllers / drive tuning
  • You understand Ethernet or Profinet networking
  • You are familiar with integration of software to control systems (analog and digital) for mechanical and electrical components
  • You have experience leading mid-to-large size design projects
  • You are familiar with Systems Engineering principles
  • You are familiar with V&V practices

Our total rewards package

The range of base salary for the position is between $91,000 - $124,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
